The 1977 25 Pence coin from Saint Helena is a Silver Proof Issue commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth II. On the obverse, it features a young bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, with the Latin inscription "QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND 1952-1977." The engraver for this side is Arnold Machin. The reverse side showcases an image of the Aldabra giant tortoise, with the Latin inscription "ST. HELENA" and "TWENTY-FIVE PENCE." The edge of the coin is reeded, and it follows a round shape with a milled technique. This non-circulating coin is made of silver (.925), weighs 28.28 grams, and has a diameter of 38.50 mm. It holds a denomination of 25 Pence, equivalent to 0.25 SHP (Saint Helena Pound), and is part of the commemorative series marking the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession. The coin was minted by Saint Helena, a territory within the grouping of Saint Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha, and it reflects the unique fauna of the region with the image of the Aldabra giant tortoise.
